Overview
In July 2026 Brazil reported that 90 % of people aged 10 and over owned a mobile phone and 95 % accessed the internet, with daily use by 95.6 % of the population. Rural coverage had risen to 79 % and urban coverage to 91 %, leaving the remaining gaps mainly due to digital‑skill deficits, cost and perceived lack of need.
A few days later the focus shifted to the rollout of 5G. Brazil topped a nPerf performance study of large nations, with operators such as Vivo and Claro achieving the highest scores for both 5G and 4G reliability. The new network promises speeds up to 100 times faster than previous generations, opening opportunities in health, transport, entertainment and the Internet of Things, while still facing infrastructure challenges in remote areas.
