The National Institute of Research Ethics (Inaep), under Brazil’s Ministry of Health, has advanced its regulatory framework for scientific research involving human subjects.

Initially, the institute launched a dedicated portal to facilitate the voluntary accreditation of Research Ethics Committees (CEPs). Following the establishment of these accreditation processes, Inaep held its first ordinary meeting with its full collegiate body in Brasília. This body comprises 30 representatives from the scientific community and various government ministries, including Health, Education, and Science, Technology, and Innovation. According to Health Minister Alexandre Padilha, this regulatory structure is intended to align Brazil with international best practices and encourage greater participation in multicenter studies.
