Brazil continues to lead the global aesthetic market, ranking first in surgical procedures and second overall when non-surgical interventions are included, according to International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) data. Between May 2025 and May 2026, the three highest-grossing weight-loss medications in the country generated R$ 13.3 billion. This trend is creating a specific need for body contouring and procedures to address skin sagging, as ISAPS notes that such rapid weight loss can impair skin elasticity and regeneration. The integration of GLP-1 analogues into Brazil’s Unified Health System (SUS) marks a transition toward treating obesity as a chronic, multi-causal disease. The Ministry of Health’s approach utilizes a structured care line, where access is conditioned to formal diagnosis, specific clinical criteria, and multidisciplinary follow-up. As these medications become more widespread, they continue to alter the patient profile in plastic surgery. Specialists note that skin retraction varies based on age, genetics, and the speed of weight loss, often requiring surgical intervention when natural elasticity is insufficient to accommodate the new body volume. Concurrently, facial rejuvenation techniques are evolving. Modern facelift procedures have moved beyond simple skin tightening to include the repositioning of deeper anatomical structures, such as muscles and ligaments, to improve facial and cervical contours.
