The Brazilian tourism, aviation, and hospitality sectors continue to demonstrate robust expansion. Corporate tourism remains at a historic high, generating R$ 9.75 billion during the first eight months of the year. To manage operational challenges and reduce litigation, the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac) has approved new regulations regarding flight delays, cancellations, and interruptions. These changes, set to take effect 30 days after official publication, mandate increased transparency. Airlines must now inform passengers at the time of purchase that operations may change due to weather or security reasons. Additionally, companies are required to use digital channels to provide real-time updates on departure estimates, reaccommodation options, and instructions for accessing assistance. Material assistance requirements remain mandatory: airlines must provide food after two hours of delay and, for delays exceeding four hours requiring an overnight stay, must provide lodging and round-trip transportation. In exceptional circumstances where local infrastructure or suppliers are unavailable, passengers may pay for their own expenses and seek reimbursement from the airline within seven days upon presenting receipts. The updates clarify that providing such assistance does not constitute an admission of guilt. These regulatory updates follow data from AirHelp indicating a rise in service disruptions; between June and August, flight cancellations increased by 14.5%, affecting 786,200 passengers, while delays of two hours or more rose by 17.9%. Major hubs such as Galeão and Guarulhos recorded the highest volumes of affected travelers. Beyond passenger rights, Anac has opened a public consultation regarding new rules for monitoring and enforcing CO2 emission reduction targets. The proposal includes a potential fine of R$ 750 per ton of unreduced CO2 for operators exceeding specific emission thresholds. Operational disruptions were recently highlighted by a power outage at Viracopos International Airport in Campinas. In the air cargo segment, domestic transport rose 4% in August, with Gollog holding a 43.2% market share.
