Municipalities in Brazil are implementing various traffic safety education programs targeting students and the general public to reduce road accidents. In Sorocaba, the Secretariat of Mobility (Semob) launched the “Aluno Seguro: Volta às Aulas” initiative. In Rio de Janeiro, CET-Rio has entered a new phase of its “A Caminho da Escola 3.0” program. This initiative seeks to transition temporary safety measures into permanent urban interventions through democratic community consultation. By utilizing tactical urbanism—a low-cost strategy involving pavement painting and bollards—the program aims to improve sidewalks, raised crossings, and signage.
