Bernard d’Ormale, the 85-year-old widower of French actress Brigitte Bardot, is engaged in a legal and personal dispute following his exclusion from Bardot’s estate. Because their 1992 marriage was not recognized as a civil union in France, d’Ormale had no legal right to the inheritance, which was divided between Bardot’s son and the Fondation Brigitte Bardot.

Following his eviction from the La Madrague estate in Saint-Tropez, d’Ormale moved into a small social housing unit. He has criticized the foundation for auctioning approximately 300 of Bardot’s personal items, describing the actions as damaging to her memory. He also characterized his removal from his position as president of the foundation as a ‘coup d’état’ carried out by a ‘gang of coup plotters.’

The foundation, now led by Max Guazzini, maintains that the eviction was a legal necessity because Bardot had donated the estate to the institution in 1992. Guazzini stated that the organization is strictly following the actress’s testamentary wishes and French law, dismissing d’Ormale’s reactions as a ‘pose.’
