British Airways Avios loyalty program updates
Overview
British Airways is implementing changes to its loyalty program and reward structures. Starting April 1, 2027, the airline will increase Tier Point requirements for Silver and Gold elite status within The British Airways Club, raising Silver to 8,000 points and Gold to 21,000 points. Additionally, the airline will introduce Avios-only flights for Club members on specific routes between London Heathrow and Palma de Mallorca, as well as Heraklion, Crete, in August 2027.
Changes to Avios earning structures are also scheduled, including an adjustment to how Avios are awarded for holiday packages and a reduction in Avios generation for BA Holidays Premium Plus cards. The Avios currency is shared across seven airlines, including Iberia, Aer Lingus, and Qatar Airways. To maintain active status, members must engage with their points at least once every 36 months.
