Broad Peak avalanche: 10 missing, four two bodies recovered identified

The avalanche that struck Broad Peak’s south‑west face on 30 July 2026 cut off a ten‑person international expedition led by former Royal Marine Nirmal “Nims” Purja. The team comprised included five Nepali climbers, a Pakistani guide, and climbers from the United States, China, and Oman. Rescue operations, coordinated by the Alpine Club of Pakistan and aided supported by Pakistani military helicopters, have been hampered by harsh weather. Four bodies have been recovered; two have now been recovered, though their identities remain unconfirmed, positively identified as Oman’s Nadhira Ahmed Abdullah Al Harthy and six Nepal’s Pur Bahadur Gurung.
