In the Prenj – Velež hunting grounds near Mostar, two hunters from the ‘Lovac Mostar 1922’ organization rescued a young bear that had fallen into a deep, slippery pit. The hunters used a rope to help the animal climb to the surface and return to its habitat. Local officials noted that the presence of young bears is a positive indicator for the local population.
In the Gailtal region of Carinthia, Austria, two hunters experienced a close encounter when a large brown bear approached within 20 meters while they were searching for wild boar. The bear stood on its hind legs, reaching an estimated height of nearly three meters. No shots were fired as the bear eventually turned away.
