BTG Pactual business expansion in Brazil
Overview
BTG Pactual has expanded its service offerings in the Brazilian market through new regulatory authorizations and product launches.
In August 2026, the investment bank received authorization from the Superintendency of Private Insurance (Susep) to operate as a Special Purpose Insurance Company (SSPE). This allows the firm to issue Insurance and Reinsurance Risk Letters (LRS) to transfer risks related to agriculture, catastrophes, and financial guarantees to capital market investors. During this period, the bank also identified the insurance sector as an undervalued segment, specifically highlighting Caixa Seguridade for its predictable profit growth.
By September 2026, the bank launched BTG Pay, a platform targeting the B2B payment market. Developed following the acquisition of the fintech Justa, the platform integrates payment terminals, receivables management, and B2B credit cards. While the corporate card initially operates in a closed loop with BTG Pay terminals, the bank intends to move toward an open arrangement as transaction volumes increase.
