BUAP academic conferences on artificial intelligence
Overview
The Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (BUAP) has hosted academic discussions regarding the integration and ethical implications of artificial intelligence.
In September, the university held a conference titled ‘Generative AI in Research: tools, publication, and ethics’. During this event, Amira del Rayo Flores Urbina, BUAP’s Vice Rector of Research and Postgraduate Studies, advocated for responsible AI use, highlighting concerns regarding training data control, computing center protection, and the establishment of technological norms. Additionally, consultant Carlos Manuel Estévez-Bretón discussed the challenges of fragmented global knowledge.
In October, BUAP hosted the 32nd Ordinary General Assembly and the 31st National Conference of the National Association of Faculties and Schools of Chemistry (ANFEQUI). This event focused on the theme ‘Chemistry and Artificial Intelligence: new frontiers for sustainability, innovation, and education’, exploring how AI can optimize processes, support the circular economy, and advance scientific ethics and chemical training.
