Bulgarian Black Sea summer inspections
Entities: Dr. Kremena Stoiva · Ravda hotel · Bulgarian Food Safety Agency · Black Sea coast
Overview
In late June 2026 Bulgaria launched a coordinated summer control campaign along its Black Sea coast. The first wave, reported on 25 July, focused on tax compliance and parasailing safety. The National Revenue Agency inspected roughly 1,500 premises, uncovering widespread tax infractions such as missing fiscal receipts and untaxed tobacco sales. Simultaneously, civil aviation and maritime authorities carried out emergency checks of parasailing operators, finding defective equipment and missing safety documentation and ordering rapid remedial actions.
A week later, on 2 August, the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency disclosed the next phase of the campaign. Over 2,000 food‑related inspections were conducted, resulting in more than 120 violation notices, 900 corrective orders and the closure of over 30 establishments—including a hotel kitchen in Ravda—due to serious hygiene breaches and the presence of unfit food products. The agency warned tourists to purchase food only from monitored vendors.
Together, the inspections illustrate a broad, multi‑agency effort to enforce fiscal, safety and public‑health standards on the Black Sea tourist belt throughout the summer season.
