Bybit regulatory licensing in Dubai
Overview
Bybit Fintech FZE has obtained a Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) license from Dubai’s Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA) for exchange services. This license specifically covers spot trading of virtual assets and allows the company’s local entity to serve retail, qualified, and institutional investors within the emirate.
The new authorization replaces a previous in-principle approval that did not permit the company to serve customers within Dubai. While the license enables spot trading, it currently excludes cryptocurrency derivatives. Bybit has expressed intentions to seek further regulatory approval for derivatives services in the future. Before trading officially begins, the company must complete VARA’s launch process and satisfy specific operational requirements.
