Overview

African football clubs continue to progress through the CAF Confederation Cup and CAF Champions League group stage qualifiers.

In the CAF Confederation Cup, DR Congo’s Maniema Union secured a place in the 2026-2027 group stages after a 4-1 second-leg victory over Angola’s Kabuscorp SC, resulting in an 8-2 aggregate win. Angola’s Primeiro de Agosto also qualified following a 1-0 second-leg win against DC Virunga, finishing 3-1 on aggregate. Mozambique’s Black Bulls previously qualified following a 2-2 draw against Rwanda’s Rayon Sports.

In the CAF Champions League, Cameroon’s Colombe Sportive du Dja-et-Lobo has achieved a historic qualification for the group stage. After a 2-0 first-leg victory in Senegal and a 1-0 second-leg win in Yaoundé on October 25, 2026, the club advanced with a 3-0 aggregate score against Teungueth FC. This marks the first time the club has reached this stage and the first time a Cameroonian side has reached the group stage since the 2022-2023 season.

Teungueth FC coach Malick Daf attributed the elimination to individual errors and a lack of competitive rhythm, noting that the Senegalese league had only recently resumed after a four-month hiatus. The group stage draw is scheduled for October 28 in Cairo, Egypt, where potential opponents include Simba SC, Orlando Pirates, and Petro de Luanda.
