In late July 2026, Calabria promoted a tourism expansion focusing on its Tyrrhenian beaches, Ionian spots, and inland hiking. Conversely, the Filcams Cgil Calabria union has challenged this narrative, arguing that rising tourism does not prevent local migration to northern Italy due to insufficient wages and rising costs in hubs like Tropea.
