Regional Minister Giovanni Calabrese has defended the economic outlook, citing a 7.5% increase in tourist arrivals in early 2025 and a 21% rise in regional airport passengers over 2024. Conversely, the Filcams Cgil Calabria union has challenged this narrative, arguing that rising tourism does not prevent local migration to northern Italy due to insufficient wages and rising costs in hubs like Tropea.
