Call of Duty Black Ops PlayStation releases

Overview

In late July 2026, Activision released native ports of Call of Duty: Black Ops 1 and Black Ops 2 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. While the games remained unchanged from their original versions, the premium pricing led to some criticism regarding the lack of extensive remasters.

Following these releases, Call of Duty: Black Ops II emerged as the top performer in Sony Interactive Entertainment’s July 2026 PlayStation Store download rankings. The title secured the first-place position on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 platforms, showing consistent popularity across the United States, Canada, and Japan. This success followed a July 10 release facilitated by a partnership between Treyarch and Iron Galaxy Studios.

In August 2026, Call of Duty: Black Ops II continued its momentum, becoming the most downloaded game on the PlayStation 5. The port includes the full original content, including the campaign, Strike Force missions, multiplayer, and Zombies mode, though it operates at 1080p with 60 FPS without native 4K or 120-Hz support.
