In the financial sector, the mobile money market is expanding. Konoom has secured a payment institution license, becoming the third authorized player alongside Orange Money Cameroun and MTN Mobile Money. This new service intends to facilitate money transfers, bill payments, and tax settlements. Additionally, the Nigerian fintech Grey has introduced a payment corridor allowing users to send funds in USD, EUR, or GBP, which are converted to CFA francs for direct credit to local mobile money accounts.

Parallel developments are occurring in sustainable transport, with Spiro deploying electric motorcycles and battery-swapping infrastructure following the establishment of an assembly unit in Douala. These initiatives aim to leverage the country’s hydroelectric and solar potential to reduce reliance on imported fossil fuels.
