Camilo Huerta detained in drug trafficking probe

Camilo Huerta, a model and personal trainer, has been detained at Santiago Airport as part of ‘Operación Amsterdam’. The investigation, led by the Chilean Carabineros (OS-7), targets a criminal organization suspected of using medicinal dispensaries and a ‘growshop’ to illegally distribute cannabis, with potential profits exceeding 8 billion pesos.

Authorities are specifically examining DN Medcorp SpA and its links to a cannabis dispensary in Chicureo. Investigators have identified approximately $51,266,785 transferred from DN Medcorp SpA to Grünwald SpA, which is allegedly being used as a corporate vehicle to receive assets from drug trafficking. Leaked telephone intercepts reportedly show Huerta discussing cannabis stock and strategies to evade police inspections at locations lacking proper permits.

The case involves 38 other suspects across nine regions of Chile. The investigation continues to draw public attention due to Huerta’s high-profile connections. While former partner Marité Matus has denied involvement, businesswoman Paula Pavic has expressed ‘mental exhaustion’ on social media following the recent developments and the detention.
