Canadian law enforcement drug and firearm investigations

Overview

Law enforcement agencies in Canada have conducted several investigations involving drug trafficking and illegal firearms.

In September, the RCMP executed a search warrant in Yellowknife as part of a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act investigation. This operation resulted in the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of over $11,150 in cash, cellphones, and evidence of drug trafficking. Concurrently, police in Halifax searched a residence, seizing a loaded firearm and ammunition, leading to the arrest of a man and a woman on firearm-related charges.

In October, the Inuvik RCMP’s Territorial Crime Reduction Unit executed two search warrants targeting suspected drug trafficking locations. One search on Bompas Street led to the arrest of a 33-year-old man on charges of cocaine trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime, alongside the seizure of a firearm, drug paraphernalia, and nearly $5,000 in cash. A second search on Bonnetplune Road resulted in the discovery of drug paraphernalia and approximately $1,000, though the two occupants arrested during that operation were released without charges as the investigation continues.
