However, reports presented to the Parliament of the Canary Islands by ADSPC and Intersindical Canaria highlight significant regional disparities and service shortages. While Tenerife and Gran Canaria each have over 400 residential mental health spots, islands such as La Gomera and El Hierro have none. This lack of stable housing or long-term recovery environments contributes to a ‘revolving door’ phenomenon of repeated acute unit readmissions. Additionally, while the SCS has increased staff since 2022, the primary care psychological services program is only 50% implemented, leaving patients facing wait times of up to two and a half months in populated areas.
