EU gas storage levels have reached approximately 62%, which is notably lower than historical averages, with German storage levels dropping to roughly 50%. Geopolitical tensions, including the conflict in the Middle East and disruptions near the Strait of Hormuz, have driven TTF gas hub prices higher, with October contracts trading around 19 USD/MMBtu. These constraints, alongside the decoupling from Russian gas and competition for LNG from Asian markets, continue to exert upward pressure on energy costs.
