Canyon Resources takeover bid dispute
Overview
A2MP Investments, an entity largely owned by Singapore-based Eagle Eye Asset Holdings, attempted a takeover of the Australian mining company Canyon Resources. The bid was marked by a significant valuation dispute regarding the Minim-Martap bauxite mine in Cameroon. While BDO Corporate Finance Australia valued Canyon shares between A$0.14 and A$0.446, A2MP offered only A$0.05 per share, criticizing the assumptions used in the higher valuation.
The takeover bid expired on September 21, 2026, after A2MP failed to reach the necessary ownership threshold. Although A2MP and its partners maintain a majority stake of approximately 56.63%, the failure to acquire full control has created uncertainty for the Minim-Martap project. The project, operated by Camalco, is intended to be Cameroon’s first bauxite mine and a key driver for economic diversification, but it continues to face logistical and infrastructure challenges.
