Carly Rae Jepsen releases double album ‘Day and Night’ and announces 2027
Canadian singer Carly Rae Jepsen released her ninth studio album, a 24-track double project titled ‘Day and Night’, on September 18, 2026, through Interscope Records and Schoolboy. The album is divided into two interconnected halves. The ‘Day’ portion features organic, symphonic, and psychedelic sounds, including dream pop, folk-pop, and jazz-inspired tracks such as ‘On Wires’ and ‘Blue Skies’. The ‘Night’ portion moves toward a maximalist electronic, house, and disco aesthetic, featuring tracks like ‘Motivation’ and ‘Don’t Leave Me on the Dancefloor’. The project is Jepsen’s longest to date, spanning over 100 minutes. Jepsen noted that the creative process was shaped by major life changes, including her marriage to producer Cole M. G. N. and her experiences with motherhood. The single ‘After All’, co-written with Kyle Shearer and Nate Cyphert, specifically addresses motherhood and identity. Other notable tracks include ‘Versailles’, which incorporates groovy synths and was inspired by Sofia Coppola’s film ‘Marie Antoinette’. Following its release, the album has garnered significant critical attention. Rolling Stone described it as her ‘most experimental and exhilarating work’, while Vulture called it her ‘most ambitious project to date’. On the Billboard Canadian Albums chart, the album debuted at No. 59. In conjunction with the album release, Jepsen announced her ‘Day and Night’ North American tour for 2027. The tour is scheduled to begin in Edmonton, Canada, on April 15, with stops in Calgary, Vancouver, and Ottawa. The North American leg will include major U.S. cities such as Los Angeles, San Francisco, Austin, Nashville, Philadelphia, and New York City, before concluding in Montreal on May 29. Separately, Jepsen has been involved in songwriting for a Broadway musical adaptation of ‘10 Things I Hate About You’ and has expressed interest in writing for the HBO production ‘Heated Rivalry’.
