Castilla-La Mancha political disputes

Political leaders in Castilla-La Mancha have engaged in disputes regarding the political conduct and loyalty of regional president Emiliano García-Page.

Paco Núñez, president of the People's Party (PP) in Castilla-La Mancha, accused García-Page of displaying a “double face” concerning the crisis in Ceuta. Núñez alleged that while the regional president publicly criticizes the central government, his party leadership has defended government actions in Congress and instructed socialist mayors to boycott solidarity demonstrations. The PSOE defended García-Page, citing his “coherence” and dismissing PP criticisms as partisan.

Following these accusations, José Martín-Buro, the PP president in Cuenca, also criticized García-Page, claiming the regional president prioritizes PSOE interests over national interests by failing to support PP proposals regarding Ceuta.

On the International Day of Democracy, Pablo Bellido, President of the Cortes of Castilla-La Mancha, warned that the normalization of certain political practices threatens the democratic system. He emphasized that political opponents should be treated as respected adversaries rather than enemies to be eliminated.

In a related development, José Pablo Sabrido, the Government Delegate, dismissed suggestions that regional socialist deputies would vote against the central government's autonomous financing model, arguing that such a move would serve the interests of the far-right.
