Catholic Church 2026 Bible Month observance

The Catholic Church’s Biblical Movement designated the Book of Daniel as the theme for the 2026 Bible Month in September. The initiative uses the motto “His kingdom will never be destroyed” (Dn 7:14) to encourage reflections on spiritual resistance, ethical fortitude, and hope during periods of global instability. The theological focus interprets the book’s apocalyptic imagery as a symbol of successive oppressive empires, promoting a commitment to social transformation and anti-imperialist values.

To mark the occasion, the National Conference of Bishops of Brazil (CNBB), in partnership with Edições CNBB, organized a Biblical Seminar from September 8 to 10. The seminar, which was broadcast live via Catequese do Brasil and Edições CNBB channels, provided historical context and pastoral guidance. Discussions centered on maintaining religious values under social and cultural pressure, specifically examining Daniel’s testimony within the Babylonian Empire and the story of Susanna.
