Catholic diaconate ordinations in Italy

Overview

Religious ceremonies in Italy have recently marked the ordination of several new deacons. In Milan, Archbishop Mario Delpini presided over the ordination of 17 candidates for the transient diaconate at the Milan Cathedral. This group consists of 11 seminarians from the Diocese and six from the Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions (PIME), including individuals of African and Indian origin. These candidates are expected to be ordained as priests on June 12, 2027.

Additionally, a ceremony held on September 26 at the Basilica of Santa Fara in Bari saw Archbishop Giorgio Ferretti ordain three Capuchin friars: Gianluca Spagnuolo, Alberto Lipinga, and Pierluigi Placentino. The event highlighted the diaconate as a commitment to service and providing comfort to those in need.
