Catholic religious pilgrimages in Argentina

Overview

Catholic communities across various regions of Argentina have organized several religious pilgrimages and celebrations.

In Ushuaia, activities were scheduled to honor the Virgen del Rosario de Río Blanco y Paypaya, including a mass at the María Auxiliadora Parish and a pilgrimage to Monte Olivia. In Bariloche, a pilgrimage to the Grotto of the Virgen de Las Nieves was rescheduled to October 25 to avoid conflict with local elections; the event was themed ‘With Mary united, we walk waiting for Pope Leo’ in anticipation of the arrival of Pope Leo XIV. Thousands of faithful eventually participated in this annual pilgrimage, traveling from various neighborhoods and surrounding areas to reach the grotto for the central mass.

In Jujuy, celebrations included a pilgrimage at the Sanctuary of Río Blanco dedicated to the youth, following the theme of the 2026 Vocational Youth Year. Additionally, the Jujuy community in Buenos Aires held a procession to the Basilica of Luján to honor their provincial patroness. Meanwhile, the Virgin of the Valley has been visiting various public institutions and civil organizations in preparation for the upcoming feasts of the Immaculate Conception.

In Río Grande, a procession was held to mark the 112th anniversary of the Schoenstatt Movement’s first Covenant of Love, moving from the Schoenstatt Hermitage to the Sagrada Familia parish under the motto “Mother, you call me, here I am.”
