Celtas Cortos 40th anniversary celebrations

The Spanish band Celtas Cortos is celebrating its 40th anniversary. During the celebrations, band member Jesús Cifuentes reflected on the group’s longevity, noting that while they have added new musicians, they maintain their core musical approach of ‘mestizaje’ and their long-standing anarchist values.

Cifuentes remarked that the band maintains a sense of ‘constant late adolescence’ and has reached a transversal audience across generations. He also observed that current national music lacks the social and ideological advocacy present during the band’s early years, except within certain segments of the rap scene.

As part of their ‘40 años contando cuentos’ tour, the group has continued its festival appearances. In Ferrol, Spain, the band performed a free concert at the Plaza de Armas as part of the Fiestas de Ferrol summer festival, joining a lineup that included Budiño and the Galician folk group De Ninghures.

The tour also includes a free concert in Puerto Real on September 4, 2026. Organized by the Puerto Real City Council, the performance will take place at the Plaza Poeta Rafael Alberti and serves as the closing event for the municipality’s Noches de Verano 2026 programming. The setlist is expected to feature hits such as ‘20 de abril’, ‘Cuéntame un cuento’, and ‘La senda del tiempo’.
