Central Bank of Eswatini economic and regulatory activities
Overview
The Central Bank of Eswatini (CBE) has been active in both promoting technological advancement and managing domestic financial stability.
Governor Phil Mnisi has advocated for increased female participation in STEM and urged stakeholders to utilize machine learning and data to build a technology-driven economy. As part of these efforts, the CBE announced the reintroduction of the FinTech Forum Eswatini.
Concurrently, the CBE is providing technical assistance to EswatiniBank to support its turnaround plan. Following an initial nine-month intervention, the CBE has extended its support for an additional 12 months. To manage costs associated with external consultants, CBE Chief Operations Officer Mfanufikile Dlamini will be seconded to EswatiniBank starting October 1 to assist the board and management.
