Central Bank of Montenegro institutional initiatives
Overview
The Central Bank of Montenegro (CBCG) has undertaken several initiatives focused on economic empowerment and professional development.
In October 2026, the CBCG received an international award in Paris at the WE Finance Code Global Forum for its work in the economic empowerment of women. This recognition follows the bank’s development of a model to improve data availability regarding the financing of women-owned enterprises. The initiative, supported by the EBRD and a coalition of 28 national institutions, aims to track access to finance and create targeted financial policies.
Additionally, the CBCG has implemented the ‘PriZnanje za znanje – šansa za najbolje’ scholarship program. The third generation of recipients, consisting of ten high-achieving undergraduate and master’s students in fields such as economics, law, and computer science, received contracts for the 2026/2027 academic year. Governor Irena Radović stated the program is an investment in professional capacity to support Montenegro’s European integration.
