Following upgrades in Brno, Bratislava and an initial retrofit programme in Prague, the Prague Public Transport Company (DPP) has signed a six‑year framework with Polish firm ENIKA to equip its 123 Škoda 15T ForCity trams with air‑conditioning. The deal totals about 395 million CZK (≈70 million PLN), roughly 36 million CZK below the original estimate. Work will be carried out in ENIKA’s Łódź workshops, with at least 20 trams fitted each year; the first unit is scheduled for July and will undergo homologation testing in Prague before further orders. Each tram will receive three iGlacio 17AC/6AC units, delivering 17 kW of cooling and 6 kW of heating, and will carry a 60‑month warranty. Completion of the programme will bring climate‑control to the entire fleet of 250 Škoda trams in the Czech capital, complementing earlier air‑conditioned deployments in Brno and Bratislava and reinforcing a broader regional push for modern, climate‑controlled public‑transport vehicles. In parallel, DPP has launched a public tender to acquire up to 200 new twelve‑metre buses over the next five years, split between mild‑hybrid diesel and conventional diesel models, at an estimated cost of 1.58 billion CZK. The buses will feature low‑floor entry, full‑width climate control, modern passenger‑information systems, wheelchair spaces and driver‑assist cameras. A separate contract secures ten classic 12‑metre SOR Libchavy buses with air‑conditioning and anti‑collision systems. Both procurements are part of a wider fleet modernisation that also includes ongoing electric‑bus purchases and the development of charging infrastructure, aiming to replace aging vehicles and improve accessibility for passengers with reduced mobility.
