Ceuta protests against far‑right agitators

On 31 July 2026, the leader of the Se Acabó La Fiesta (SALF) formation, Alvise Pérez, and influencer Vito Quiles attempted to hold a rally in Ceuta’s Plaza de los Reyes. Counter‑demonstrators, many of Moroccan origin, shouted anti‑immigrant slogans and forced police to escort the far‑right figures and members of the SALF‑affiliated Núcleo Nacional out of the square and onto a ship for evacuation. Later that day SALF convened its first assembly in El Puerto de Santa María, Andalusia, with over 50 participants, appointing a local liaison and delivering speeches despite a request from Izquierda Unida to block the event.

The following day, 1 August 2026, residents of Ceuta staged a larger protest, openly rejecting Vito Quiles, Alvise Pérez (also referred to as Pérezantes), and Núcleo Nacional. Demonstrators used profanity and accused the agitators of inciting hatred toward migrants and Muslims. The unrest coincided with a migration surge that saw roughly 50,000 people cross from Morocco into Ceuta in a week, resulting in about 67 deaths. Citizens linked the presence of the far‑right figures to the heightened tensions, calling for their removal to preserve peaceful coexistence.
