Charity expedition for Vilnius hospice

Overview

A fundraising initiative titled ‘Żukiem dla Życia’ has launched to support the Father Michał Sopoćko Hospice in Vilnius, Lithuania. A group of volunteers and musicians is traveling approximately 1,500 to 1,600 kilometers from Krakow, Poland, to Vilnius in a 1962 Żuk vintage vehicle.

The campaign aims to raise funds to cover the hospice’s operating costs. Initial reports set a goal of 90,000 euros, while later updates specified a target of 350,000 PLN, intended to cover roughly half of the facility’s monthly expenses. The hospice is the only institution in Lithuania providing free care to over 400 patients and their families annually.

Organizers, including Sebastian Jaworski, have planned the journey to include concerts and community engagement to attract donations. The expedition has noted positive interest, including from the Polish diaspora in Scandinavia, and is expected to arrive in Vilnius by the end of the week.
