Overview

Charles Schwab is expanding its digital asset services through both retail platform growth and institutional collateral usage.

Initially, the brokerage announced plans to expand its Schwab Crypto platform by adding Solana (SOL), Avalanche (AVAX), and Chainlink (LINK) to its existing offerings of Bitcoin and Ethereum. This expansion was intended to provide clients with more choices for digital asset allocations via Schwab.com, the Schwab Mobile app, and the thinkorswim platform.

Subsequent regulatory filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission revealed that the firm has also integrated XRP ETF shares into institutional collateral arrangements. Specifically, the Schwab Prime Advantage Money Fund and other filings showed approximately $4.8 million in total XRP ETF-linked positions, including shares from Grayscale, Canary, and Franklin, being used as collateral.
