During the debate, Chega leader André Ventura criticized the government for a perceived ‘degradation of democratic institutions.’ In response, Prime Minister Montenegro defended the government and Minister Neves, describing the motion as a ‘mere political game.’ To regain political initiative, Montenegro announced two major economic measures: a reduction in IRS (income tax) up to the sixth bracket and an extraordinary supplement for pensioners, totaling approximately 400 million euros each.
