Chilean automotive insurance consumer complaints

Overview

During the second half of 2025, Chile’s National Consumer Service (Sernac) reported a 2.5% increase in automotive insurance complaints, totaling 2,172 cases. The primary driver of dissatisfaction was the refusal to pay for insured losses, which accounted for 39% of complaints and represented a 29% increase from the previous year.

Other significant issues cited by consumers included breaches of contracted conditions (12.5%), failure to reverse incorrect charges (9.7%), unjustified delays in technical service (7.6%), and defective repairs (5.9%).

In terms of company performance, BCI Seguros Generales, HDI Seguros, Zenit, Zurich, and Sura were among the most complained-about providers. Conversely, Reale Seguros was noted for its performance, ranking second in the sector based on complaint volume relative to insured clients and response quality.
