As Chile approaches the Fiestas Patrias celebrations, economic activity is expected to increase through both employment and consumer spending. ManpowerGroup Chile projects the creation of nearly 2,000 temporary jobs nationwide to support retail and logistics, with approximately 1,800 vacancies expected for roles such as cashiers, store operators, and warehouse workers. Monthly liquid salaries for these positions are projected to range from $340,000 for part-time roles to $750,000 for full-time positions. Recent data regarding holiday bonuses (aguinaldo) shows varying trends. While earlier projections suggested 62% of workers would receive a bonus, a Randstad survey indicates that 57% of workers are expected to receive one, a 3 percentage point decrease from the previous year. Among recipients, 34% expect more than $90,000, 37% expect between $50,000 and $90,000, and 29% expect less than $50,000. For the 43% of professionals not receiving a bonus, reasons include company policy, budget constraints, or the economic climate; some employers are substituting cash with gift cards, food boxes, or time off. In the private sector, bonuses remain dependent on individual contracts or collective agreements; however, legal experts note that if a bonus has been paid consistently for several years, an employer may be unable to unilaterally reduce it. In the public sector, more than 31,000 pensioners will receive a government-mandated ‘Aguinaldo de Fiestas Patrias’ of $25,280, with an additional $12,969 for those with registered dependents.
