Chilean INDAP agricultural support programs

Overview

The Institute for Agricultural Development (INDAP) in Chile has implemented various programs to support family farming and regional economic growth through water management and direct financial incentives.

A study by consultancy Comov regarding 2025 data indicates that INDAP mobilized approximately $32 billion CLP through irrigation projects, covering nearly 30,000 hectares. These projects reportedly generated 17,415 jobs, with research noting that “for every $10 million CLP invested, six jobs are created.” Much of this funding, totaling roughly $16 billion CLP, was directed toward regional providers in commerce, services, and infrastructure.

In specific local applications, such as in Doñihue, the INDAP IFP program has provided over 40 million pesos in incentives to 32 farmers. These funds, supplemented by local producer contributions, are utilized for increasing productivity through investments in livestock and agricultural machinery, including cultivators and grain shredders.
