China embodied intelligence industry development

China’s embodied intelligence and humanoid robotics industry is transitioning from theoretical development to an industrial verification phase. The sector is moving toward large-scale commercial deployment in manufacturing, warehousing, and emergency rescue, supported by government initiatives from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission.

This transition is accompanied by significant financial activity. Domestic financing for the sector reached 93.5 billion yuan in the first half of 2026, representing a fivefold increase year-over-year. While major companies like Unitree Robotics have experienced stock price fluctuations following their IPO, other players such as Ubtech Robotics saw substantial gains during their Hong Kong market debuts.

As the industry scales, a critical shortage of compliant physical interaction data has emerged, with a gap exceeding 99% between current availability and commercial requirements. This has led to the rise of a profitable niche in data collection services. These providers, which utilize manual labor to collect and label the data necessary for training robotic systems, are seeing high demand and profit margins of approximately 30%.
