In late July 2026 China escalated its response to the EU’s latest sanctions against Chinese and Hong Kong firms linked to Russia by expanding the export‑control blacklist to 14 European entities. Two days later, on 26 July, the list was clarified to also cover the Wrocław University of Science and Technology in Poland, the French III‑V Lab research centre and other entities. The measures prohibit exports of dual‑use technologies and materials to the listed parties and require special licences for any exemptions. Both announcements framed the actions as necessary for China’s national‑security and non‑proliferation obligations, further heightening trade and diplomatic tensions between Beijing and the EU.
