Chinese bridge infrastructure development

Overview

China continues to develop large-scale bridge infrastructure to enhance regional connectivity. The Danyang–Kunshan Grand Bridge, a 164.8-kilometer railway viaduct on the Beijing–Shanghai high-speed railway, serves as the world’s longest bridge, navigating the complex terrain of the Yangtze River Delta.

Building on this infrastructure capacity, construction has begun on the Zhangjinggao Yangtze River Bridge in Jiangsu province. Designed to become the world’s longest suspension bridge upon its completion in 2028, the project features a 2,300-meter central span. The bridge aims to improve travel times and connectivity between Zhangjiagang, Jingjiang, and Rugao.
