Christian Koloko joins Crvena zvezda

Overview

Christian Koloko, a 26-year-old Cameroonian center with NBA experience, has officially signed with the Serbian club Crvena zvezda, marking his first move to European basketball.

Following his release by the New Orleans Pelicans, Koloko joined the Belgrade-based team to bolster their frontcourt and address depth issues caused by injuries to players such as Ebuka Izundu and Jonathan Motley. The 211 cm tall center arrived in Belgrade from Chicago on the day of a derby to begin his obligations with the club.

Koloko brings significant experience from the NBA, having played for the Toronto Raptors, Los Angeles Lakers, Memphis Grizzlies, San Antonio Spurs, and Atlanta Hawks after being selected in the 2022 NBA Draft. A former Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year at the University of Arizona, he is recognized for his rim protection, mobility in defending pick-and-rolls, and rebounding capabilities. Upon his arrival, Koloko expressed excitement about joining the squad and meeting the fans.
