Christmas lighting preparations in Spain

Municipalities across Spain are initiating preparations for the upcoming holiday season through various procurement and installation processes.

In Soria, the City Council awarded a three-year contract to Iluminaciones Ximenez, S.A. for the 2026/2027 through 2028/2029 campaigns. The agreement, valued at approximately 299,319 euros annually including taxes, covers the rental, installation, maintenance, and dismantling of lighting elements with a focus on energy efficiency. Similarly, the Cambre City Council issued a tender with a budget of 127,233 euros excluding taxes to install decorations including trees, arches, and 3D figures by December 5, 2026.

In some regions, celebrations have already begun. In the Cartaojal district of Antequera, Málaga, holiday lights were installed and activated early due to the coordination of municipal contracts for both Christmas and local fairs. In León, an official lighting ceremony is scheduled for December 2, led by bullfighter José Ortega Cano and Mayor José Antonio Diez.
