Mexican authorities in Ciudad Juárez have pursued a series of high‑profile criminal cases. In late July, judges approved only four of fifteen requests for early‑evidence hearings in migrant kidnapping investigations, limiting prosecutors' ability to build cases against traffickers. Despite the restrictions, a historic sentence of 845 years and 10 months was handed down to four kidnappers after migrant testimony, and dozens of investigations and rescues of kidnapped migrants have been recorded.

At the same time, the Specialized Unit for Family Violence, Sexual Crimes and Human Trafficking filed charges in two sexual‑assault cases involving minors. A 24‑year‑old was charged with aggravated rape and related offenses against a five‑month‑old, while another suspect faced charges for the aggravated rape of a 14‑year‑old. Both defendants were placed in preventive detention pending further investigation.

Together, these developments illustrate a broader effort by local courts and law‑enforcement agencies to address serious crimes against vulnerable populations in Ciudad Juárez, ranging from migrant trafficking to sexual violence against children.
