Prosecutors claim the group promised a 6 million euro credit line for a precious metals business in Dubai, contingent upon a guarantee payment. Authorities allege that portions of the defrauded funds were intended to finance Georgescu’s 2024 electoral campaign. As part of the ongoing probe, authorities have placed a preventive seizure on Georgescu’s villa in Mogoșoaia and seized seven bank accounts and 27 electronic storage devices. The ruling to move from detention to judicial control is not yet final, as DIICOT has 48 hours to appeal the decision to the Bucharest Court of Appeal.
