Recently, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov commented on the 2024 elections, claiming Georgescu was “simply taken out of the race” because he advocated for Romanian national interests rather than following orders from Brussels. Lavrov suggested the annulment of the results, which had seen Georgescu win the first round, was linked to Western interference.

Georgescu has since announced a visit to Piața 100 in Oradea as part of his “Toamna Cămărilor Românești” campaign to promote local producers. However, Liviu Andrica, Director of the Oradea Public Domain Administration, contested the description of the site, noting the market is primarily known for second-hand cars and antiques rather than agriculture.
