Cloud computing is evolving toward more complex, distributed architectures, specifically through the adoption of hybrid and multi-cloud models.

In Japan, cloud service adoption has reached 80.6% among domestic companies. While hybrid configurations—combining on-premises and public cloud environments—are common, they present challenges regarding security, consistency, and data synchronization costs. To address these, organizations are using high-reliability storage functions to transfer only updated delta data, which helps reduce costs and time while maintaining encryption.

Broadly, the industry is seeing a rise in cloud orchestration to manage resources like containers and databases. Kubernetes is becoming a dominant orchestration layer, with projections suggesting 82% of industrial cloud container users will utilize it in production by 2025. Beyond microservices, the platform is being used for big data pipelines and generative AI inference tasks.

Organizations are also utilizing multi-cloud strategies, which involve using services from two or more public providers to prevent vendor lock-in and increase resilience. However, this approach introduces complexities such as data gravity, egress costs, latency, and the management of disparate identity systems and APIs.
