Club América vs Necaxa Liga MX match

Overview

During Matchday 10 of the Liga MX Apertura 2026, Club América achieved a 4-2 comeback victory against Necaxa at Estadio Victoria, ending a nearly month-long winless streak.

Necaxa initially held the lead twice through goals by Owen González and a penalty from Julián Carranza. Club América responded in both halves, led by Henry Martín, who scored a hat-trick including two penalty kicks. Miguel Borja also contributed a goal to secure the win; notably, Borja’s goal marked his third consecutive scoring appearance.

Following the match, Club América reached 20 points, tying Toluca at the top of the league standings, though Toluca maintains the lead due to a superior goal difference. Necaxa remains in the lower portion of the table with eight points.

Martín’s hat-trick has drawn attention due to a statistical coincidence. In previous instances where he scored three goals for América—against Lobos BUAP in 2018 and Veracruz in 2019—the opposing clubs subsequently disappeared from the Mexican first division. Necaxa is now the third team to join this list.

Looking ahead, Club América is scheduled to travel to the United States for a friendly match against Cruz Azul in San Diego. The squad is also preparing for the potential debuts of Santiago Bueno and Santiago Ramos Mingo, while Raphael Veiga continues his recovery during the FIFA international break.
