CMA CGM low-carbon shipping initiatives
Overview
CMA CGM has entered into multiple partnerships to advance low-carbon shipping and renewable fuel production.
In early October 2026, the shipping line partnered with logistics company DSV to utilize the ACT+ low-carbon shipping solution. This agreement aims to reduce CO2 emissions by 12,000 tonnes over two years through the use of second-generation UCOME-based biofuels.
Shortly after, CMA CGM signed a framework agreement with ENGIE to develop a biomethane production facility in the Le Havre industrial and port area. Expected to be operational by 2029, the facility will convert agricultural residues, livestock waste, and household biowaste into biomethane. The project intends to supply 7,000 tons of biomethane annually to CMA CGM’s LNG-powered vessels, potentially preventing 23,000 tons of CO2 emissions each year.
